I have been a marriage and family therapist for more than 25 years. As the clinical supervisor of a large community counseling and addiction recovery center, I have supervised interns and led therapy groups for adults and teens. I have provided clinical counseling supervision and taught pastoral counseling skills to seminarians and provided coaching to clergy. With a passion for listening to stories and helping people to find wholeness, I have led spiritual journey groups and retreats for my church and renewal retreats for psychotherapists.
I work with individuals and couples with issues that include anxiety and depression, relationships and transitions, and grief and loss, using a variety of modalities including depth psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and family systems therapy. Drawing on their spiritual resources, I co-create with my clients a safe space of mutual trust where emotional pain is healed and self-compassion developed. Clients learn to break free of old patterns, heal relationships and past trauma and experience more well-being so they can accomplish their life goals.
I see clients of all faiths or no faith. Most of my clients are young adult graduate students and seminarians who I accompany on their spiritual journey, dealing with questions of sexual orientation and identity, faith, discernment and call. I offer low-cost counseling to students and have a sliding scale.
