Patricia J. Stamm, MD
I am a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and interfaith minister and have been in private practice in the Bay area for 35 years. After getting my BA at Barnard in Psychology and Theatre, my MD at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, I completed a residency in psychiatry at UCSF/Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco.
I currently work with adults, both individuals and couples, doing psychotherapy as well as psychopharmacological evaluation and treatment. My training is integrative and holistic, ranging from classical psychoanalysis, self-psychology, object-relations, and Jungian influences to mindfulness and cognitive/behavioral approaches.
My specialties include, but are not limited to, anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, eating disorders, lesbian and gay issues, relationship problems, addictive disorders, spiritual issues, and creative blocks. I work both by phone and in person and have offices at ICC and in San Rafael.
Although, when needed, I do brief problem-focused work, I also see suffering as an opportunity to uncover and integrate underlying psychological, physical and spiritual issues that are out of balance. By exploring these in depth, we are able to become more conscious and ultimately more whole individuals. I see myself as an empathic ally in this humbling yet rich process of healing and growth. Blessings!
